Dr. Kanako Ishida is a statistician and demographer with over a decade of experience conducting health and epidemiological research and program evaluations across U.S. federal agencies and international organizations. She specializes in survey methodology and has designed and implemented both community-based and large, nationally representative household surveys across the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Dr. Ishida holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from UCLA and brings deep expertise in statistical methods, such as survival analysis and structural equation modeling. Her research interests include reproductive, maternal, child, and infant health, violence, mental health, substance use, WASH, and infectious diseases. Her work focuses on equity and social and behavioral determinants of health and aims to generate actionable insights for evidence-based policy and program development. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Japanese.
